Scoop Side Table

The Scoop Side Table is a piece built entirely from the intelligence of the hand. Its distinctive form — a tapered column that flares outward at the base with a concave scoop cut from its profile — could only be achieved by a craftsman who understands wood deeply: how it responds to the chisel, how it holds a shape, how its surface can be worked into something that transcends furniture and becomes object.

Crafted from kiln-dried hardwood, the table's entire surface is covered in hand-chiselled diamond-pattern relief carving, identical in technique to the Carved Totem but altogether different in presence. The deep ebonised finish here gives the faceted surface a dark, architectural quality — as if the table has been carved from basalt or volcanic rock rather than wood. Under light, the texture creates a play of highlight and shadow that makes the piece look almost three-dimensional.

The Scoop Side Table stands alone as a sculptural object as readily as it serves beside a reading chair or sofa.
